The conference promises a fascinating day of discussions on Melville in the context of current perspectives on 'Americanness'. We are fortunate that Prof. Robert S. Levine is our keynote speaker, addressing the problems of Melville’s version of American identity in today’s global environment. More generally, we hope that this conference will present a good opportunity to consider some fundamental ideas about scholarship on the American 19th Century.
Please do not hesitate to contact me direct if you require any additional information.
