Melville Society International Conference Postponed
The Paris conference organizing committee and the Melville Society have decided to postpone the Thirteenth Melville Society International Conference, originally planned for June 2021, for one year to June 2022.
We are pleased to announce that the 2022 conference will be devoted to “Melville’s Energies: Aesthetics, Politics, Ecology.” It will explore the aesthetic, political, and ecological energies that permeate Melville’s work. As situated in Paris, the conference will also foreground the energies that flow outward from his deep engagement with French literature, history, art, philosophy, science, and culture.
A proper call for papers will be circulated in Spring 2021 with proposal submissions accepted by August 2021. We will welcome proposals from independent scholars, creative artists, and academic scholars of diverse institutional affiliation, academic rank, and disciplinary background.
Please direct questions and queries regarding the conference to the organizing committee at melvillesenergies2022@gmail.com
